The Power of Intentional Movement for a Functional Life

Joe Pilates famously said, "Physical fitness is the first prerequisite of happiness." For him, emotional well-being was closely tied to physical health, achieved through proper posture, spinal flexibility, and muscle function.

Unfortunately, civilization impairs our posture. Sitting at a desk all day stiffens our fascia and reduces spinal flexibility, while lack of movement weakens our muscles. The only way to counteract these effects is through intentional exercise that lengthens the spine, decompresses the body, and promotes overall balance – this is where Pilates comes in.

At Functional Beings, our mission is to help you move with purpose, transforming you into a more functional being—so you can breathe better, move better, and ultimately, function better.

Meet the Founder

I am Ezel, originally from Turkey, and have also lived in different parts of the world. After college, I worked for 10 years in Marketing for multinational companies both in Turkey and Dubai.

In 2017, I woke up one day with persistent ankle pain that led to a diagnosis of lower back issues. This wake-up call prompted me to explore systems addressing muscular imbalances, ultimately leading me to Pilates.

I am now a REPs UAE registered and Balance Body Certified Instructor trained in Matwork, Reformer, Tower, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrel. I teach both private and group classes.

To me, Pilates is more than a series of challenging exercises. It is a way to become a functional being, both physically and mentally. During my sessions, I emphasize correcting posture with consistent cueing and prioritize quality repetitions over quantity.
